I’m Kayla, a creative professional located in Edmonton, AB. I enjoy working with a variety of artistic mediums and exploring all forms of creative expression.

I have always been obsessed with characters and world building from anime and video games. I loved creating fan art of my favourite characters (mostly portraits) and exploring all the lore and visual development behind my favourite games. This passion for game art and animation lead me to explore the 2D animation and illustration industry. There is so much creativity and love that is poured into animation and every part of the process is integral to reaching the finished product. From visual development & concepts to rigging, it was all so interesting that I couldn't decide on a specific area of focus. I wanted to do it all!

My desire to do a little bit of everything didn't stop at animation. I also found myself dabbling in the world of graphic design. Logo design, branding, motion design… It was a whole new way of thinking about art and I really enjoyed the various ways it applied to marketing. Graphic Design wasn't just making things look pretty, it had the power to influence a person's perceptions and directly impact consumer behaviours. Cool right?

My list of skills won't stop there. With 3D printers becoming all the rage, I hope to dive into 3D modeling next. Maybe even some web design (this portfolio website was my first attempt, so how did I do?).

When I'm not being creative, I'm gaming! You can often find me in World of Warcraft, parsing in the latest raids or coming up with another outfit for my character (I suppose that's creative too). I also enjoy playing other fantasy inspired games too, but something always manages to call me back home to Azeroth.
